Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics

Mathematics is a universal language. It is not only the language of science, besides, its applications are widely used in different aspects of daily life in modern world. In order to equip our students with the abilities to face their upcoming challenges, our department has implemented a series of strategies to obtain the following objectives.

Curriculum Information

Junior Curriculum

Regulated Learning (SRL) It is essential to equip our students with the ability to learn by themselves. Therefore, we implement some SRL lessons in our syllabus. Before the lesson, students will be given some worksheets which guide them to prepare for the chapter. They need to study the chapter, together with the worksheets. Then, they work in small groups to share their ideas about the topic. Furthermore, they need to present their ideas to the rest of the class. We hope that this practice can enhance their leadership skill, communication skill, problem solving skill and collaborative skill.

Senior Curriculum

The Mathematics Curriculum aims to:

  • Further develop students’ mathematical skills and concepts;
  • Provide students with mathematical tools for their personal development and future career pathways.
  • Provide a foundation for students who may further their studies in Mathematics or related areas.

The Compulsory Part of Mathematics fosters students; understanding of the development of mathematical knowledge and their applications in the solution of various problems, including real-life ones. Nowadays, Google Doc and Google Classroom are also been used in learning Mathematics. We trust that there are a lot of new learning and teaching methods which are good for students. Moreover, we also encourage students to participate in different Mathematics competitions. Our students are also having good performance and awards from these competitions.
